KYRGYZSTAN: UNDP Environment Programme and Mol-Bulak-Finance Company launch a pilot project

The UNDP Environment Programme and Mol-Bulak microcrediting company as part of the Memorandum on Cooperation are planning to conduct a one-day trainings in different towns of Chui, Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic. The target audience of trainings will be more than 250 specialists of microcrediting organizations. The aim of planned training is to build Mol-Bulak Finance company workers capacity in social and environmental responsibility in releasing of credits based on strategic environmental assessment tools.

It is notable that UNDP Environment Programme attaches great importance to cooperation with the private secftor. This area is a priority task for the programme as access to credit resources is one of the serious barriers in implementing environmentally oriented activities at the local level.

Following the training the Microcrediting Company Mol-Bulak will support more effective access credit resources for the projects aimed at ensuring environmental security as well as sustainable development of local communities and rural people. Such an approach will provide more social responsibility of lenders to receiving and using the credits oriented to environmental conservation.
