Laboratory for Water Supply

Activities

• The Laboratory does research on evaluation of the existed water supply systems and development of improved intake and network facilities with due regard to the country’s conditions.

• Works have been conducted to evaluate the availability of drinking water and the current status of water supply systems in urban areas and large settlements of all regions of Kyrgyzstan. 

• Under the current market economy realities, operation of the country’s municipal drinking water supply sector requires new approaches, including water tariff revision. A corresponding water pricing system is currently under development.

Results

• A filter unit aimed to treat waters containing different admixtures has been created on the basis of local element – basalt. Several tests confirmed its effectiveness of such approach.

• To achieve effective use of water resources, improved intake and network facilities have been designed for municipal water  supply systems. Due attention has been given to specific local peculiarities (sources of water supply, spring capitation, etc.).
